Below we have created a short guide to proper pool maintenance, covering everything from regular cleaning and water testing to machinery maintenance. It is important to have a plan for the proper maintenance and cleaning of your pool. This will include general weekly work that you will need to do while the pool is in use, as well as servicing the equipment and machinery involved in running the pool.

WEEKLY WORK

Proper weekly maintenance is key to improving the lifespan and cleanliness of your pool. Regularly performing small, simple tasks can reduce the amount you have to spend on repairs and other expensive maintenance bills when minor issues have escalated into something much more serious. It’s best to get into a routine with cleaning and maintaining your pool and perform the tasks on a specific day each week. Your weekly tasks should include:

  • Checking the water level and topping up chemicals if necessary
  • Cleaning the filter(s)
  • Cleaning the skimmer baskets
  • Vacuum cleaning the pool floor
  • Brushing the pool wall
  • Cleaning the area around the pool surround
  • Checking chlorine and ph levels, topping up necessary chemicals.
  • Checking the engine room functionality

MACHINERY SERVICE
It is essential to service your pool regularly. The equipment and machinery used to operate your pool will last much longer with a good service schedule. If you notice any unusual noises in the machine room or the pool not reaching the correct chlorine and ph measuruments, you should have a professional inspect the equipment.
